Attempting to connect to my Pioneer AVH-a3100DAB head unit via USB to make use of Appradio and Waze navigation. Will only charge and will not allow for smartphone connection but will for other phones with no problem. The weird thing is that when charging, the connection is very intermittent, however this is not the case with any other phones!

The USB port is for USB music players and iDevices, not Androids. (There's a difference in what they look like to the head unit.) Use Bluetooth.

    Hi I'm the OP

It is also used for the appradio and waze functionality (for navigation) which it says in the manual works with android and iphones. It has worked in the past but has recently stopped working for my phone and also a friends Huawei p20. Also the charging problem only happens with Huawei phones

I have the same problem. I have the Huawei p20 smart and it connects to bluetooth for using the phone, but no navigation. When setting the connection to USB, I get a message "usb not working and not recognized". Using my friends Iphone or a Samsung, all works. The other problem with the Iphone Sygic Navigation starts up. But the navigation window is 1/3 and the rest black. Not even the touchscreen works. On the samsung the navigation works( Waze and google maps not at all, even with android nav installed. This means that the package of the radio states that it works with android, but not on all phones. This sucks.
