How critical are software updates on a mobile phone? I mean, best to rely on relatively new apple, google or androidone phone to get regular updates at least for 2-3 years, or doesn't matter much?
For example, I may be looking at a Blackberry keyONE, so an older phone with no much support in terms of updates. Am I going to have issues in this case?

    thanks for your feedback.

I still use an ancient Nexus 5 with no problems. If you don't mind foregoing the latest hardware and OS developments, and are unlikely to be troubled by any app incompatibilities, you'll be okay.
