So I have a s7 and I have tried everything I could find to fix this problem. Tried checking the apn tons of times, restarted, turned off the auto download, turned off wifi, turned off data, clearing the messages app cache, deleted the app data, reverting to an old version of messages which has failed. I just can't seem to get it working. Someone please help.

Is the problem that when someone sends you a picture message, all you get is a message that says "Tap to Download," but nothing happens when you tap? Or is it that you get the picture message, but you're unable to save the photo to your device?

That doesn't quite answer my question. Do you see the picture in the message thread and just can't save it to the phone, or does no image show up at all, and all you see is "Tap to Download"?

If it's the latter, then are you having any issues with web access over mobile data using other apps? Check to make sure your APN settings are correct for your network: https://www.androidcentral.com/what-apn-and-how-do-i-change-it

I have mint mobile and the apn is all correct. I had this problem too before I switched with cricket too. It's like it just randomly stopped working over time. Idk?

Alright, so I found a work around. If you go to this link (because I'm using Mint Mobile) and use the apn settings from tmobile (if you have a different carrier, go use the main carrier settings) and turn the airplane mode on and off every time you want to download a picture message, it works. Still can't find a permanent solution.
