When attempting to receive emails, a message appears telling me to make more room by deleting unwanted files/images/videos etc. Checking my storage, I have 195Mb remaining on the phone itself plus 14.90Gb on a brand new SD card. I have re-installed and formatted the SD card a number of times but to no avail. Why won't the phone recognise the SD card storage?

While 195 MB of storage does sound like enough space, it seems like some of the modern smartphones need at least 1 GB free to work properly.

My personal suggestion would be to backup your photos to Google Photos, then erase them from your phone and remove any apps that you really don't need.
