An outstanding and unique feature just seems to have disappeared for no logical, rational reason, wtf? Taking pictures with the LGG2 or G3 using both cameras at once with picture in picture was invaluable, why would anyone remove that feature?

I'm using a G3 right now and am not sure I ever knew about such a feature. So I guess it would be lack of interest.

I've just checked for it and you're right, it is there. In the 4.5y I've had the phone, I've never used it, nor ever wished to, to the extent that I obviously forgot about its existence long ago. Clever, but no big deal to most users I suppose.

Samsung had it for a few years, it was on my Note 3, 4, 5, and S7. It's no longer available from them either. I've honestly never seen anyone use the feature, it probably didn't get built into the newer versions of the camera apps due to lack of popularity.
