I have a 5 year old Droid ultra, and previously replaced the original loudspeaker about a year ago due to distorted sound. I found tiny metal particles on the speaker, which had obviously traveled thru both mesh screens, and believe that wearing my phone while grinding and welding caused that to occur. The new speaker solved the problem, and sound quality was restored.

Recently, the same metal particle issue returned, but installing a new speaker did not cure it. I tried three new speakers, thinking that it might be just defective parts, but can't rectify the distorted sound. I "tested" each loudspeaker by holding it firmly against the proper place on the circuit board, so I know that the distortion is not being caused due to physical vibration of the speaker itself. The phone has good sound quality when I use earbuds, so I don't think the problem is related to the audio circuitry. Has anyone else experienced this issue?
