In some Android phones, in the homescreen there's the screen indicator, a house or a dot.
In other Android phones, in the hmescreen there's an upwards arrow, no house.
I tried to figure out what makes that difference, but just couldn't, this difference is seen whether it's the OS version, the stock or not, etc., even in same specs I see different small icons.
If I have a house icon, how can I switch to the up-arrow icon?
    It depends on what?

Welcome to the forums. It depends on the launcher and different manufacturers use different ones. You can change how your home screens look using a custom launcher, they are very popular and very easy to use. Most of them have a free version in Play Store.
