How do I receive pictures and group messages on my android again. I cannot receive them anymore.

I use to be able to receive pictures and group conversation verbiage and now its gone. I have a Moto Z phone. Should I uninstall and reinstall my SMS on my phone?

You can try updating your carrier profile by dialing ##update # on the phone keypad then try sending out a picture message first. That sometimes helps with MMS messaging. It worked for my dad. It's worth a try.

Which carrier?
Which SMS app?
Is your cell data turned on? Most SMS apps do not do MMS over wifi.

What is the exact wording of any error messages you are getting?

Check the APN on your phone, and make sure it's the same one your carrier uses. (Google <your carrier> apn [without the <>].) Or bring the phone to the carrier's store, if there is one, and ask them to check it.
