How can I set Google Photos as my default app ?

I recently bought a Samsung S8+ and apps like Instagram and other popular apps force me to use the gallery app as my default. Lesser known apps like Discord and QuizUp have actually asked which app I wanted to use and I chose Google Photos. How do I make my phone to always use Google Photos?

The "default app" is the one that tuns wien you try to "run" a picture. Since that's not what you're doing, it has nothing to do with the "default app". Either Instagram (and the other ones you're having a problem with) don't give you the choice, or they did, you chose Gallery, you chose Always, and you forget.

At any rate, changing the app an app like Instagram uses is up to Instagram. If there's no way to change it in Instagram, contact them (the email address is at the bottom of their Play page) and ask them to add a way to change the app it uses, or to give you a choice of app.
