    I'm using Xiaomi Redmi 5.

I was deep cleaning on the system cleaner and I saw that on the "Big Files" section was 1 GB worth of data files in the gallery app. I could really use 1 GB but I'm afraid I'll lose my photos. Do I delete?

    Thank you in advance.

Why not back them up to Cloud storage, such as Google Photos, then Delete From Device?
You’ve got 15gb of free storage in there, and more on the various paid storage plans.

And about a dozen other free cloud sites with anywhere from 5GB to 15GB each. (Two backups is always better than one. Think of a cloud server in Fukushima, Japan, before the tidal wave. Along comes the water and your cloud storage is part of the Pacific. But wait - you also use MEGA [New Zealand] and Google [all over], so you're still backed up.)

Welcome to Android Central! The app data for the Gallery file might be thumbnails -- you'd be surprised at how much space those can take up. Deleting Gallery app data won't get rid of your photos, because the photo files themselves are saved elsewhere (typically in the /DCIM/Camera directory). But if you delete the Gallery app data, it will probably build up again over time as the thumbnails are re-created.
