Android Central Question

Hi all,

I have Google Pixel 1- Sailfish-128 GB. I am having problems with using the Phone app functionality. When I am receiving any call and I answer it, the phone app crashes and the phone is not usable. Entire system UI crashes and the only option I have is pressing the power and volume down button to force shut it down. Same thing happens when I place any outgoing call through phone app or making/receiving call on any 3rd party apps like Whatsapp, Instagram etc.. I have tried factory reset from settings, Resetting from recovery.. but nothing helps.
Phone works somewhat fine as long as there is not outgoing/incoming calls.

I have not found any solutions for this so far.
P.S: My phone is not under warranty.

Hi. I've got an identical issue. First I noticed it last weekend (four days ago). Safe mode doesn't help. Also, calls can be made during the first like 30 seconds after bootup. Then, the sound is cut off and the machine rebels.
This may or may not be related, but the microphone is not working as well. This knocks out the Google assistant and all voice message options.

Just got off the phone with google and fixed my phone. these are the steps
settings
apps and notifications
phone
clear cache and storage
uninstall updates
play store
my apps and games
download update for the phone
worked for me after that hope this helped

I had this issue too but i was able to get rid of it. At least temporarily. Just follow this simple procedure and let us know if it works for you or not:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps & Notifications > Phone
  2. Clear the Phone cache and storage
  3. Go to PlayStore and search for the Google Phone app.
  4. Click on uninstall. This will uninstall the updates for this app.
  5. Restart your phone

That’s it. I followed this procedure and my phone has been working fine ever since. Here’s a Guide that includes screenshots.
