Sub-icon when making a shortcut

[Android Central Question]

Anytime you make a shortcut (webpage/app/etc) on the home screen the new app has a "sub-icon" long of hovering over the new shortcut icon. Is there a way to get rid of the sub-icon?

If that "sub-icon" looks like the Chrome icon, then you're probably creating Progressive Web App shortcuts: https://www.techrepublic.com/article/how-to-find-and-install-progressive-web-apps/
