Why does my phone automatically keep turning off the volume & taking pictures

Its really annoying when you miss a call because the volume on the ringtone along with the Media & Alarms volume controls keep shutting itself down.

It also keeps taking photos day & night, at night with the flash. The photos are registered & keep deleting them

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? The Volume Down button might be stuck in a pressed state. If the Camera app is set to use the Volume buttons as a shutter release, it's possible that it's taking pictures when you accidentally launch the Camera (since the phone registers the Vol Down button being pressed).
