Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Can you hear the other person better if you turn on speakerphone, or use a wired or Bluetooth headset?

This is an unusual issue and if it was OK this morning it leads me to be think that your speaker is blown or damaged. I wouldn't ordinarily jump to such drastic conclusions but barring any user changes it is the first thing I would consider. I did think of one other thing... Is your speaker grill dirty? You haven't given us much information, like can you increase the volume to get better performance or if everything is OK over headset or on speakerphone, but you could have gotten something in the grill either dampening the sound or blocking it resulting in the reduced volume.
