Android Central Question

I have gone to applications and see that most are running but I can find no way to hibernate them as I do on my samsung s7 phone. I tried to transfer my Prime Video app to an SD card. But that isn't happening either! I would prefer to improve gbs on my tablet without using an SD card,,.. Is that possible.? I have the same apps on my Samsung s7 phone and have 15 gbs of free space. Can someone help me?

You can't increase space magically. Delete stuff of get an SD card and move stuff there.

Welcome to Android Central! Which tablet is it? Is it a Tab 4, or is it an older tablet that's still running Android 4.1?

What do you mean by "hibernate" and "improve GBs"? "Hibernate" means preventing the app from opening into RAM. For preinstalled apps, go to Settings>Apps, select the app, and tap Disable or Turn Off. For apps you install, the main way to "hibernate" them is to install a 3rd party app like Greenify (or just uninstall the app).

But disabling or hibernating and app doesn't do much to free up internal storage. Disabling a preinstalled app will uninstall all updates first, which will reclaim some storage, but not that much. Also, if your tablet is an old one running Jellybean, then the way its internal storage is partitioned is probably very different from the S7 -- see this guide for more info: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...y-how-deal-insufficient-storage-warnings.html

And "moving" apps to the SD card doesn't actually free up space. (You have to understand computer science to understand why - but it doesn't. It's something that can be done, and it's a cute trick, but it's not useful for anything.) You have the number of GB you have - there's no way to increase it. It's not like a PC where you can add a larger hard drive for more storage.
