Android Central Question

Eversince I updated to android pie, my galaxy s9 encrypts itself at night and asks for my password the next morning as if I had restarted it, therefore my alarms won't go off. Does anyone know how to fix this?

It sounds like it actually is restarting, what are your indications that it isn't?

The issue you are having is that it is encrypting when otherwise restarting overnight wouldn't be an issue.

The part about auto restart is part of your problem, but your main issue (causing the encryption) is called "secure startup."

It makes you put in your password before it will start up to prevent someone from taking your personal info if your phone gets stolen.

As stated, you can shut off auto restart but this will still happen if it restarts for another reason (such as a software update) or you can shut off secure startup if you don't need it.

Find it in biometrics and security in your main settings screen.

My s9+ died I plugged it in and once it started it said "your phone is encrypted for security. To start up your device, enter your pin." I've had this phone for 2 years And this has NEVER happened before. I didn't set any passwords, didn't even have a screen lock set so I don't understand why it is doing this any help would be great

2d later.

Presumably you have got it working in Safe Mode; but that is a diagnostic, not a fix: you'll have to find and remove the third-party app causing the trouble.
