I have purchased a new Samsung 500C, hooked it up and it was so slow that I took it back and got another one. Same problem.

My internet connection is a solid 24 M download and almost 2 upload.

I have an older Acer Chromebook and it works great. 10 times faster than the Samsung.

I have removed all extensions, cleaned, cleared and done everything to eliminate what I think might slow it down.

I have run Task Manager and find nothing in particular causing the problem.

I am convinced that there is a design problem with this model.

Welcome to Android Central! Can you clarify what you mean by slow? Are you talking about download speeds? What does it report your download speeds are when you go to www.fast.com or www.speedtest.net? Did you make sure the unit is connecting to your main wi-fi network, and not some secondary public network (like, for example, the public xfinitywifi SSID that all Comcast home routers broadcast unless you disable it?

connected to 5G next to router. Download speed measured at 20 -24 M upload near 1,8, 1.9 M.
Download speed measured at 20 to 24 M, Upload abt 1.8M.. Pages load very slow, activity on a page is slow.

Do you have a lot of extensions running? What if you go into Incognito Mode (which turns off all extensions unless you expressly set an extension to run in Incognito)? Is it still sluggish then?

I have deactivated all extensions and nothing changes.

This is the second 500C that I have had with the same exact symptoms.

I can't believe that it is anything to do with my system since I am running an old Acer Chrombook with 2 GB of memory and it is much faster. I am also running a windows 10 computer with Chrome and it works very well.

It is so slow that I take the 15" Acer when I am mobile rather than the sluggish Samsung.

That's pretty strange. The Samsung is on the Stable channel, and not Developer or Beta, right?

I don't even know what that is. Both units were out of the box. I bought the Samsung thinking that the 4 G of memory would make it faster than the ACER with only 2G. I think it was a big mistake.

I've been assuming this is the Samsung Chromebook 3 (XE500C)

More memory doesn't necessarily make a Chromebook faster -- it does allow for more tabs to be open without bogging down performance, though.
