Turn off proximity sensor with Samsung J8

Hello,

I want to know how to turn off the proximity sensor with the Samsung J8.
It is really annoying that when trying to listen to voice messages the screen automatically turns off and the volume of the audio changes.

How can I do this, since most information I find online is about other models?

Welcome to Android Central! The screen should only turn off if you're holding the phone to your ear. If it's turning off even when you have the phone in front of you, then something might be blocking the proximity sensor. Do you have a screen protector on?

I don't want the screen to turn off at all. I want to disable the function.

If you're on a phone call, your cheek is going to be touching the phone, turning things on and off, maybe even hanging up. That's why it's there.
