No Notification LED - Make AOD light up and stay lit if I have a notification?

I'm trying to figure out a replacement for the notification LED - one thought I had was if AOD would normally be off unless I tapped it, or a notification came in. Then it would stay on until it was cleared.

Is there a way to do this? Or has anyone found a good workaround for the Notification LED? It's really been a pain without it, and I've had the phone for only 2 days.

You don't want to keep AOD on? Seems simpler.
