Google play store will not open correctly. Message "Server error" keeps appearing every time I try and it suggests I retry. It's a Samsung galaxy j3 2016 phone. Not my phone. I know there's little memory left with lots pics on it. But I dont think memory issue is related to this issue? Please help.

Brand new Galaxy S10 (1 day old) getting the server error for Google play. I've tried all the suggested methods, clearing the cache and data, uninstalling updates, force stopping, deleting my account and re adding it. Nothing is working. Can someone help?

There were some reports 20 minutes ago that it was down. It works for me, is it working now?

I have this stupidity with server error going on right now on my CAT S41. There are reports on Reddit of it being down. I tried the local fixes and after re-entering my Google Accounts I get the completing setup notification that is doing nothing. I gave it permission to use my LTE (I have a big data plan LOL) and still no dice. VPN doesn't help, so not a regional issue.

I have the same problem on my brand new unlocked Samsung Galaxy S10. I have tried basically everything there is to try: clear cache, clear data, force stop play store, restart phone, remove Google account, and yes, finally the factory reset. None of that helped.

I wonder if the particular data center people are connecting to is impacting this? There should be balancing in place, or fail-overs in case of route failures though. My Pixel 2 XL just completed an app update in he Play Store, no problems.

Yeah, my other phone updates just fine, so I wonder if it's limited to a data center in a region or something of that sort.

Wow, some folks taking a VERY extreme approach to this in doing factory resets!

Same issue - Samsung S10 (T-mobile Edition) - tried clearing data and cache from Play Store and Google Services, phone restart, clearing chrome browser data, etc. Still getting server error message. It has to be something on Google's end. But, on a new device and during a weekend? Google is messing up - big time

It's back up and running on my end - time was the solution, aside from the multiple attempts listed above

For future information - "server error" means it's at the other end. Someone "fixed" something on the server, but messed something up. (The most common server error - error 500 - is a syntax error on the server, but in order to see what it is, someone has to look at the server error log ... and users, for obvious reasons, can't get that deeply into the server.)

So the definitive answer to a server error is to wait. (Sending an email to the server owner isn't a bad idea either - some administrators may not look at the server for hours on end. If you have a Google phone, use feedback [in Settings] to let Google know. That goes to software, but they'll get it to the server people pretty quickly.)
