I have a galaxy 7j phone and tonight I had my phone on it’s charger plugged into the wall. I kept hearing a strange noise and my cat too, she started to meow as if something is wrong, I finally realized it was my phone charger. I’m not sure if it is my outlet tho that was frying my charger. It was very hot and sounded like sparking noises, so I unplugged it. Noise stopped, but I heard another noise like from the outlet. I am concerned of an electrical fire. I think I want to shut down that outlet. I’m pretty sure it is the outlet, because another time I had my apple iPad plugged in and the charger got hot, I thought it was odd. I looked up,recalls and got none.

    Perhaps the outlet needs fixing.

Use your instincts. Turn off the breaker to the outlet. Buy a new one for 3 bucks. Inspect the wiring while changing and get an electrician if frayed or your not comfortable with this. A smoke detector on the ceiling of every level should be present.
