Huawei P20 how to add app to app drawer

[Android Central Question]

I figured out how to see the app drawer at the bottom of the screen. Most apps go there but, I cannot drag and drop app icons from the home screen into the app drawer.
It's quite annoying as it defeats the purpose of an app drawer.
There are many apps showing on my home screen I do not use.

Does someone know how?

Welcome to Android Central! If this is an App Drawer in the classic sense (i.e., all apps you installed that are available to the user to open), then any app you install should automatically show up in the App Drawer. Can you give an example of an app icon on your homescreen that is not showing up in the App Drawer?

What you see on the home screen is shortcuts to apps that are in the app drawer - which is what you may be dragging up from the bottom. The icons at the bottom (4 or ) are the dock - and you should be able to drag a shortcut icon from the home screen to the dock with no problem, as long as you have a blank space.
