Chrome monitors my text messages on Galaxy S4?

Last night I noticed I had a text from my car dealer with a link to its website. I didn't follow it. Yet when I put the phone on this morning it opened direct to that website. Now this might be Chrome being helpful but I find it creepy, particularly as I have turned off SMS in Chrome app permissions. Can I stop this or am I being paranoid?
