Android Central Question

I need to know if it is possible and easy to open the back of Google Pixel 3a and gain easy access to the battery.

I strongly recommend forgetting about replacing cellphone batteries any more, unless you're a trained tech. (A slight mistake, like an unseen wire pulled out, and you'll be trying to find a shop willing to work on a phone you broke.)

Yeah, unless you’re a trained tech engineer fiddling with internal phone components isn’t a good idea. If anything goes wrong the best thing that could happen is damaging internal components, voiding the warranty and trying to find a shop that’ll repair it for you. At worst you could accidentally do something to the battery and it could overheat, break or even explode if it’s really serious.

Phones haven’t had removable batteries for a while because now we are at a stage where batteries are good enough to last for along time so they don’t need to be replaced often.

The 3A happens to be one of the easier "not user replaceable" batteries to replace, but once you get the screen off (that's the easy part - the glue stretches to the point that you can remove the screen without damaging the glue), you'll find all sorts of little cables covering and alongside the battery. Damage one of those and the repair bill will be more than the ~$80 cost of having the battery replaced.
