I have edited Google contacts, mostly phone numbers, and find that after a short time the edits disappear. It is probably happening when the automatic sync kicks in. How do I preserve my changes across all of my devices?

Welcome to Android Central! On what device are you editing the contacts? Go to Settings>Accounts>Google -- is the Contacts sync toggle turned on?

Yes. I found Google on my phone and SYNC is ON. I also have a desktop and a tab that I use. The SYNC is ON in the Tab, but I couldn't find the Google SYNC on my desktop.

I just found Control Panel>All Control Panel Items> Sync Center. There are no partnerships set up. The Google Calendar does sync however. Thank you very much for your help.

Can you confirm that those contacts are actually saved to your Google account, and not the local Phone account? It's conceivable that you're editing a copy of the contact that's only saved to the local Phone account, which wouldn't sync with the one in your Google Contacts in the cloud.
