Why have my contacts gone into my phone twice

I have just purchased a new Samsung galaxy a40 and when I have installed my contacts some of them have gone in twice. Why?

Welcome to Android Central! They could be syncing from more than one account. Go to Settings>Accounts, and look through all of those accounts. How many of them have an option to turn on Contacts sync?
