Pixel 2 the finger print reader works for my print but not my wife. Any idea why?

We've attempted to get the phone to store her print but it errors each time, but I can erase mine and rerecord with no issues.

Dry fingers, probably. Have her soak her finger in water for about 10 seconds, dry it, then try entering it again. (Capacitive FPSs aren't as susceptible to that as IR or sonic ones are, but they're still susceptible. (At one point, after getting 4 replacememt Pixel 2s from Google, and having none of them read my fingerprint, I was beginning to think I had defective fingers. It was during the winter, though - dry fingers.)
