My wife changed the password on her personal email account through our ISP. Updating it on Outlook on the PC was a snap. But Outlook on Android would not accept the new password. The password was verified by logging into the account via web browser as well as it working in Outlook on the PC.

I finally deleted the account so all that remained was her Microsoft Outlook.com account. I then tried to re-add the ISP account and it just won't accept it. I tried to add my own ISP account which I have on my phone in Outlook for Android but it fails with the same message.

I can see that it thinks I'm trying to add an Exchange type account but it never asks me for what type of account this is which may have something to do with it but I can't see how to get to anything that will let me select that.

This is really puzzling because I've had to setup my email accounts on my own phone more than once and have never run into this.

    Any ideas?

Sign out of everything. Clear the cache partition and reboot. Sign into the account, assuring that they are correct. Good luck
