The notifications at the top are now light grey on white and very difficult to read. Also I would like to change the black background in the settings and apps back to white. Thank you

Maybe re-apply your stock theme through GALAXY theme store .

For the black background, "Settings" > "Display" > turn off "Night Mode".

Why it would have switched "on" by itself after the update, I don't know. It's normally something you have to go in and change yourself.

As for the notification background, the night mode setting might change that, but just in case... do you have a custom theme set? The Pie update doesn't play well with existing themes.

Yeah, this question has been asked somewhere in the vicinity of a billion times here. It's due to 3rd party theme developers not updating their themes to be compatible with Pie. Change the theme back to the default, or some official theme from Samsung.
