The first thing that comes to mind is quick responses, that deals with SMS. They often popup when you're on a call and receive a text or decline a call. There may be other times as well but we'll need to know more about your situation.

If you have an LG phone, Quick Memo is LG's notes app.
The files are hidden in a protected folder.
If you want to get them backed up, you need to "export" the notes to a user folder you can read and write.

I like Google Keep Notes better because the files are stored on Google's servers and can be edited from both my phone and my computer.
