Welcome to Android Central! Which HTC phone? Does this persist after a reboot, or in Safe Mode?

Hi! Here are the steps for Safe Mode: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-28612. The fact that the problem came back after updating all of your apps (which presumably includes apps you installed yourself) supports the possibility that one of those apps is causing the problem.

ok, I did it, but the problem persist still in safe mode.

Does this only happen when you try to go to the Display & Gestures menu, or does it happen if you try to open anything in the system settings?

re: Why settings> Display & Gestures = Scratches?

not, that info is not in the error report nor clear cache and data

Ok, so you have system settings crashed,
1. Option if you download APK file that conflict with system.
2. Any application like theme installer substratum
3. If none of this you'll need to reinstall the firmware onto your device , you did factory reset so this would be only option.

re: Why settings> Display & Gestures = Scratches?

Hi everyone. I'm also having exactly the same problem, only with the Display and Gestures setting. All exactly as per the OP. If anyone has solved this, I'd be most appreciative.

HTC Desire 628 (not dual sim), all updated with latest updates. I've been using the phone without problems for a few years, and this issue only surfaced after I did a hard reset.

Thank you.

Exact same problem, have been using for almost 3 years, never faced this issue, suddenly it has popped up. Notice my display brightness was flickering, so tried to go into the display & gestures settings, but it is crashing. Last software installed was Vysor, have uninstalled, but the problem persists.

By the way, my phone is HTC 830, dual SIM.
