My old phone got ruined by dropping in a pool and would not even turn on, so I had to get a new one and could only restore my new phone by using my google account and pictures from the samsung cloud. (I got the new S10.) After I downloaded all of my pictures from my samsung cloud, I noticed that all of my pictures in my gallery are now out of order and are all dated the day that I downloaded them Is there any way to get the original date that I took each picture back on the pictures??

Welcome to Android Central! Check the EXIF data for each photo -- if the only date you see is the date of the download, then you probably can't recover that information. I can tell you that Google Photos doesn't have that problem, so consider taking advantage of their backup service.

If they coming from the cloud I don't think you can change the dates, let me ask some team members though

According to other team members looks like you can't , possible if you root but wouldn't go that way just to change dates .

The Details or Information for the image file that an app can show you is the EXIF data. So if you open it in Google Photos, for example, and tap Information, that's what you're looking at. Or in Windows, if you use Windows Explorer and right click the file, you can find the Details/Information there as well.

Thank you, I did figure it out. When I look there is says the picture date is the download date, but the file name is still the original date of photo taken. Anything I can do with that? Or SOL?

You can edit each individual photo, but that may become pretty tedious: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-e...ata-windows-10

If the file names contain the date captured, sorting by name will be the same as sorting by date.

Many picture viewing apps are wrongly written to look at the file date when they should be looking at the capture date in the EXIF data. If you need a picture app that does it correctly, give this a try:
