I have a GTO8 Smartwatch

The smartwatch of GTO8 is soppose to being compatible with my Android mobile phone (Lg V40 thinq) and I would like to know what if I didn't order a sim card with the smartwatch. Would I really need to have a sim card for the smartwatch and what is or does a sim card do as far as being for a smartwatch? Also I have tried to connect my smartwatch through my Android lg phone through the bluetooth on my mobile phone but it won't connect even though the bluetooth on my phone is connected? And lastly would I need to have a seperate data line just for the smartwatch alone in order to connect it to my mobile phone?
Thank's.

Re: I have a GTO8 Smartwatch

So, if you want notifications from the phone on the watch it looks like you need an app on the phone. I'm having a hard time figuring out what functions it can do stand-alone vs. needing a SIM card. The SIM card would provide the device a cellular connection and allow it to work stand-alone.

I just don't know what to think about that device at $11!!

Re: I have a GTO8 Smartwatch

It's about the same as the DZ-09, which I have. The watch itself should connect to the phone. Have Bluetooth on the phone turned on, turn the watch on and pair the watch (on the phone). Then say "yes" to the connect question on the watch. The watch will sync the time with the phone.

If you want to use the watch as a phone on its own (without the phone being near it), you need a SIM card (and a separate phone number) in the watch, otherwise you don't. The functions on the watch, aside from calls and texts (and, to a limited extent, the camera) all work stand-alone - no connection to the phone, but if the phone rings, you can take the call on the watch without taking the phone out of your pocket. You can also read texts on the watch.

As a $10 watch, that has a few more capabilities (and less than a day on a charge), it's not bad, but as a smartwatch (if I needed one), I'd get a watch that runs at least Oreo (for $100 and up).

Hello, I have looked over several diffrent site's for android smartwatches but I cannot find the right smartwatch to work with my lg v40 thinq mobile phone. Also I have tried two diffrent types of smartwatches that it had said on the webpage that they are of android phone and ios type but they both will not connect to my lg android phone? Also do I need to have an app for either smartwatches to connect to my phone I have hear several people say that there is an app in order to connect to my type of phone. But the one's that I had read on they didn't or won't say what the app is in order to connect both the smartwatch and my phone? Can someone please tell me what the app is and what it does? And lastly if someone can tell me which type of smartwatch do I need to be looking for in order for it to connect to my phone The phone that I have is from At&t I had asked on which smartwatch to get but they had just said any type of smartwatch as long as it's an android type that will connect to my phone. it's just so many types of smartwatches out there I don't kow which one to buy that will connect with my phone. And also would I need to have a seperate line added on to the smartwatch in order for it to work with my phone?
Thank you I would appreciate it if someone can help me with this.

Rukbat; You mentioned on pairing the phone with the smartwatch?

How do I pair the phone with the smartwatch? I'm not following you by what you had mentioned on pairing the phone with the smartwatch? How do I do this? Thank's.

Cheap non-Wear OS smartwatches typically require their own specific app to connect to your phone, so you need to look at the manual to find it. Most of the time, these cheap watches have very limited functionality (e.g., they might just show notifications), and their reliability tends to be abysmal.

Recommendations for a smartwatch really depend on what you want to get out of it. If you want a lot of features that are integrated with your Android phone, then a Wear OS watch (or a Samsung watch if you have a Samsung phone) would be the way to go. If you just want a more basic watch with fitness features, then a Garmin or Amazfit would probably be better.

Stay away from any of the cheapo no-name watches (with names like "U8" or "KW88") that plague eBay and Amazon.

Re: Rukbat; You mentioned on pairing the phone with the smartwatch?

That would be spelled out in the manual.

Also - there's no need to create a new thread, keeping the entire discussion together helps others understand what's been suggested already.
