Someone maliciously locked my tablet, such that it can't even be powered off without a passcode (read: ex dating, etc). I've tried all the standard procedures to force a factory reset (power+up-volume+home), these do NOT work in this scenario.

What am I missing here? Is there another way I can reset this back to factory settings -- I'm not sure I care about what's actually on the device.

Welcome to Android Central! I guess you didn't have a good screen lock set up, because if you did, a person wouldn't be able to get into your device to do this kind of thing. That person would also have to know your lockscreen PIN/password in order to create a new one, so that also suggests you shared your password (or use passwords that are really easy to guess), which is also asking for trouble.

You're unable to do a hardware factory reset as described here? https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-28334
