I don't want my phone to lock when I press the power button, I just want the screen to turn off so I don't accidentally call someone. But every time I turn off the screen my phone locks and I have to put in my pin or use my fingerprint. I have auto lock set to 30 minutes. Seems like this would be simple.

You would need to turn off your lock screen security, which is not a good idea

Really? There is no way to just turn off the screen to prevent accidental touches with locking it with security? That seems idiotic...

If the screen doesn't stay unlocked for 30min when set to that, or any other time, there's something wrong.

Try it in Safe Mode. Some third-party app may be causing the trouble.

But the OP is turning the screen off so the lock will be initiated.

Safe mode should work until you restart the phone

Proximity Service will do that if you put the phone down face down or have a holster. Put anything near the top of the screen and the screen blanks (and stops the lock timer).

Ah yes, I see, switching off versus timeout. In that case, unchecking Power Key Instantly Locks may be the answer - at least I have the option - but the OP seems now to have fixed.

I agree with belodion -- the best solution is to turn off the Power Key Instantly Locks option, which should be available on any phone. That way, even if you turn off the screen with your Power button, it will still rely on your Automatically Lock interval to decide when to lock the screen.

Thanks. That worked on my Asus Z6. The problem is finding all these useful settings!! 😆
