Why is voice to text randomly calling the recipient?

in recent months, when I am using the speech to text feature while composing or replying to a text message, my phone will randomly call the recipient. I have never intentionally used voice input to make a phone call. This is annoying and embarrassing. When I have no intention of speaking with people directly my phone is calling them.
