Android Central Question

I have a a10e and it is very new, after it was all set up I was watching youtube and I noticed black bars on each side of the screen, like it wasn't a 16:9 aspect ratio. I have restared my phone and even factory reset it but nothing seems to help...

This is common when the shape of the video (2:3, 4:3, 16:9, 18:9) does not match the shape of your screen. When that happens, the video player should enlarge the video size, while maintaining the shape, to fill the screen. However, due to the shapes not matching, there will be black margins on the screen.

If you search hard enough you might find a video app that has the option to distort the video shape to unnaturally fill the screen. However, since most people would not find this to be pleasing, most apps dropped that feature many years ago.

The Galaxy A10e has a 2.1:1 screen ratio, while most YouTube videos are 16:9, so it's not surprising you're seeing black bars on the sides.

Yt vids not fitting on entire screen

I have a new a10e and its playing yt videos weird, there are black borders on each side and there is only an option for 72060 and below for quality. I have seen other yt vids of people with the phone in youtube and it's fine. Already factory reset, nothing. Please help as I am contemplating trading it back for a different one which I think is unnecessary.

Re: Yt vids not fitting on entire screen

Hi, welcome !
Yeah that's the only option I know , but yours gets cut off that much ?

It cuts off enough to the point where if there is text at the bottom of the screen, it is cut in half, I am just concerned because this is really only happening to me, no one else has had this it seems

Have you tried clearing data, cache, data, force stop you tube app?

There's nothing wrong with your phone. As I previously discussed above, your phone has a 2.1:1 screen ratio, while most YouTube videos are 16:9. That means that in order to see entire frame, you will always have black bars on the sides. If you zoom in so that the video fills the whole screen, you will always cut off the top and bottom of the frame
