What do the colored bubbles next to each one of my contacts mean
When you open your contacts there are different colored bubbles next to each one of your contacts. What determines the color Google picks to give that contact. Each time you add a contact there is a colored bubble Google assigns.

Welcome to Android Central! If you're talking about the Google Contacts app, as far as I know, it's random. They probably do this to make consecutive contacts a little more readable (i.e., to differentiate one from the other). It's not like Google Calendar, where you can assign different colors to different calendars.
