I have not received any emails since 9/4/19, i cannot sign into my account. I keep getting getting directed to samsung email. I have not willfully switched.
I'd like to recommend creating a account so me or other members can assist you, as guest have limitations in replying here and if we need further Information to communicate with you.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone, and which email provider? When you say you're getting directed to Samsung Email, do you mean that you're unable to open your email app of choice? Or are you talking about when you click on an option to send an email (while in another app), it defaults to the Samsung Email app instead of the one you prefer?
