Phone charge flickers

[Android Central Question]

So I have a samsung J5 2017 and lately when I try to charge it it starts to flickers (charges one second and stops another second) and stays like that. I tried to clean the charging port of the phone there is nothing there. If I turn the phone off for a few seconds then turn it on again it starts charging normally again.

Its not a cable or charger issue, as I tried other devices and they all worked fine.

What happens if you leave the phone off for 2 hours? Does the phone charge fully?

Leave it turned off without charging for two hours? I havent tried that. I dont think it would though.

If it doesn't, you probably have a bad connection on one of the charger port pins, and if you don't get it repaired, it could end up being more expensive to have repaired than it should. Bring it in now, while it's still a relatively cheap repair.
