    The dialer on the Samsung Galaxy A10e stays on until a number is dialed. That's as it should be, however once the call is made and/or call is answered, it timesout in seconds. Not good when so many businesses have automated phone services, and one has to wait, listen to some options, and make a selection using the keypad.

    You could use an app like IFTTT to change the screen timeout when Phone is the foreground app.

    Hi, I have my display timeout set to 2 minutes. The dialer/keypad isn't affected by any changes made in display settings. My previous phone's dialer would stay on automatically if not held up to my face. I'm guessing that's a sensor not present on the a10e, but thought there could be a way around that limitation.

    Make sure there's nothing covering the proximity sensor, like a screen protector, or a poorly fitting case.

    I personally have never seen a timeout setting for a dialer, and I understand what you are saying about the screen timeout not affecting the dialer. I wouldn't have thought that it would.

    In my opinion you have a few choices;

    A) you can use speakerphone. It may keep the dialer open a little longer and since you've indicated that this is only needed for certain calls and possibly only the beginning of those calls, you could switch to the ear piece after the inputs.

    B) You could try to find a 3rd party dialer at the Play Store with the function of having a keypad that doesn't timeout. This may be difficult and you may have to try several to find one that works for your needs. You'll also want one that you trust.

    C) Learn your device. Learn where the keypad hides when it times out and how to open it. While this may not be the answer you were looking for let me remind you that prior to having an Android you likely had some regular cellphone. There was a learning curve then and this is just another learning experience. It may seem annoying right now but we adapt and change and forget.

    The dialer on my last three devices have been different from the previous one. The one before my S10+ completely disappeared when I hit send, and had to be reopened immediately if I needed to input anything, and the button to press wasn't obvious to bring it back. I had to Google how to open the keypad. Kind of my point is, after a year with the phone I quickly forgot about my issue with that and became accustom to and knew what to expect to the point where I didn't ever think about it. Perhaps someone else will have another answer for you but this is just my opinion.
