Pixel 4 Camera asking to insert sd card

[Android Central Question]

I have an app that I use for work (provision) it's an appraisal app for the car business. When I access app and then click to take/add photos the camera pops up and then asks me to insert card before I can do anything. Problem is as you know no SD slot. Any ideas on how to fix? Thanks I'm advance

Welcome to Android Central! That's a strange one. Go to Settings>Apps, select that app, then Permissions. Does it have permission to access both the Camera and Storage? Also, are there any settings within the app to choose default storage location?

I'd contact the app developer and ask that he modifies it so it checks for an external SD card port, and defaults to internal storage if there is none. If the app is hard-wired to use an SD card, you can't use it with a Pixel, and it shouldn't install if there's no SD card port. (It could be a company requirement that all pictures be saved to SD cards, in which case, you have the wrong phone.)
