Why does my internet not work half of the time.

I have us cellular unlimited everything and my internet doesn't work half the time. I live in the city/rural area. Us cellular said I should buy a new phone because mine was a Samsung Galaxy 5 and outdated. I bought a new Samsung Galaxy A50 and I'm still having the same problem. HELP PLEASE

What is your signal strength? Does this happen only on mobile data or on WiFi as well?

Use an app like LTE Discovery to see what your signal strength is (in numbers - the number of dBm), join, come back here and tell us. We can't guess why you're losing signal. (And "city/rural area" are opposites, so that makes it even more difficult for us. If you live in a rural area, that could be the problem. You may need a carrier that gives you better coverage.)
