Why can't I reset to factory settings?

I cannot restore factory settings on my Samsung ON5. When I try manual restore, I get the following message:

Could not mount /data and unable to find crypto footer.
Failed to mount '/data' (Invalid argument)
Unable to recreate /data/media folder.
Updating partition details...
Failed to mount '/data' (Invalid argument)
...done
Unable to mount storage
Failed to mount '/data' (Invalid argument)
Full SELinux support is present.
Unable to mount /data/media/TWRP/.twrps
MTP Enabled
Failed to mount '/data' (Invalid argument)
Formatting Cache using make_ext4fs...
Updating partition details...
Failed to mount '/data' (Invalid argument)
...done
Unable to mount storage

Welcome to Android Central! Is there a reason you're trying to factory reset? Has the phone been malfunctioning? Did you root it before, or did you get the phone from someone else who rooted it?
