[Android Central Question]

As per the title, I've got a Samsung tab active which has a removable battery. You think I can get it to turn on just by plugging it in directly using a charging cable and wall socket?

It literally would take you less time to simply try this than searching the internet for an Android forum then trying to figure out how to ask the question...

Meanwhile I have not yet found the device, phone, tab or laptop that will allow you run solely on AC with no battery. Even if the battery sucks, won't charge, immediately falls to zero percent when unplugged it seems that it must be in the device, but hey give it a shot and let us know what your results are in case someone else has the question.

Welcome to Android Central! As VidJunky mentioned, I don't think it'll work. The device still has to draw power from the battery. I don't believe the current supplied through the charging port would be enough to power the device.

The charger chip in the phone needs a battery to charge - if there's no battery, the chip shuts down, so you plug the power supply in (that's the thing you plug into the wall, the charger is a chip inside the phone), but the power doesn't go anywhere. Some older chargers would run the phone without the battery, but most won't.
