Will a software update lock my phone?

[Android Central Question]

I have Cricket as a carrier. And I recently bought a lg stylo 5 from eBay that was unlocked. The phone is branded with Sprints logo on start up. The phone accepted my sim card and it is working beautifully. But will it continue to work if the software update is added or will it make things incompatible?

SIM locking has nothing to do with updates, so you should be fine.

I agree a update won't mess phone being unlocked but for software updates your sim you use should dictate the software update.
