I've recently bought a new Huawei Y9s and realized that whenever I use an image for a wallpaper it reduces the clarity of the image. For example, I tested with a 4k image and could see it perfectly well in the gallery , but when I set it as wallpaper it became a bit blurry. Is there a setting for this or what?? The same issue occurs when I use the generic wallpapers that are available in the themes app

Some insight would be great here. Thanks !

No , just downloaded it online and tried to set it as is. It automatically crops it when applying.

Yepp. Tried different websites , and also tried downloading from the themes app. Same issue. I've also noticed that it drastically smoothens out any images shot with the camera (front or back). So I'm not sure whether these 2 issues are related or not.

    Try this

    Clear Camera data,cache, force stop
Then clear gallery cache, force stop
    Retest again

Does clearing gallery data remove the photos or no? So should I back them up first??

    Yes , back them up
If sync is on it will repopulate them but back them up.

This might also be how it's designed to work. Some wallpaper apps intentionally blur the image, since it's a background image. Check the homescreen settings to see if there's anything there to adjust wallpaper blur.

Alright , I did that and resettled everything. However, although it seems to have helped the slight blur is still present in the camera shot images. My previous phone was an iPhone 6 and although it has much lower megapixels the images were clearer and sharper. I've tried taking a few pics indoors and from the balcony and what it looks like to me is that the camera isn't quite capable , so the phone tried to make up for it by adding smooth filters , changing the lighting , and sometimes adjusting clarity.

Checked it all. I also turned on the display of the phone to FHD. I'm beginning to think tat this is a flaw in the design of the phone itself. It's supposedly marketed as a great phone with a wide Ultra HD screen and 48mp camera , but doesn't live up to its hype I my opinion. I am just considering going back to Apple , even though it's pricey

Whatever the issue is, it's not an Android-wide issue -- it's most likely just related to that phone. Keep in mind that there are lots of other good Android manufacturers around that sell inexpensive phones, so you don't necessarily have to go back to iPhone if you don't want.
