    1. Someone keeps accessing a friends Google account. What information can be gathered from this intrusion: texts, pics etc?

    2. If an SMS, WhatsApp or pic is deleted before it is backed up, can this person with the account details retrieve them?

    Thanks

    1. Whatever access and permissions your friends Google account has, it has. Whatever the friend can do, so can the person who has access.
    2. For text messages, the provider will store a certain time frame that will repopulate if reset in most instances.
For pics, they will be in your recently deleted option or trash.
I do not know about the whatsapp protocol.
    Good luck

Texts? Likely not, unless the account includes a Google Fi account using Hangouts for texting. Pics? Possibly, if those are backed up to Photos.

    First things first...

Secure the account. I recommend 2-Step verification. It's easy to set-up and once they've installed Authenticator from the Play Store it's virtually unbreakable without their device. At the same time they are doing this they can change their password and update their recovery information. If someone is accessing the account you want to be sure to check and update the recovery information. Depending on how smart they are changing the phone number or the email in recovery can give them a backdoor to the account even with Authenticator.

What information can be gained from a breach? Well that really depends on what your friend is using Google for. If they are using Google products for SMS, photo backup or voicemail any of that can be compromised. If they are using stock apps or any none Google apps for any of that, the information is likely safe.

    >Google Messages (SMS) - It doesn't look like deleted messages can be recovered

    >Hangouts - messages can be recovered

    >Photos, Drive and Voice - deleted items that aren't purged from the trash folder can be retrieved for up to 30 days.

As for WhatsApp and any other apps that may tie to your Google account those should be safe provided they didn't use the exact same log-in information to log into them.
