My Nexus 7 2013 tablet got stuck in a bootloop and I had to so a wipe from recovery. I had a lot of videos and photos that I had not backed up. Looking around for software and most of the pc stuff requires you to mount as mass storage. I remember awhile back that you couldn't do this with the Nexus 7 but wanted to see if that has changed now thats its 2020.

Otherwise does anyone know any other software to give a try.

Welcome to Android Central! You could try this guide, but I think it'll be futile after a factory reset. [Guide] Recovering Deleted Files - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com

You can mount a Nexus 7 as mass storage (that's the normal way of connecting an android device to a PC - it just means that the tablet shows up as a drive), but the files that you used to have are all unlinked, and storage is wiped, (that's what wiping data from recovery is used for) so there's nothing to recover. Sorry.
mustang7757 and B. Diddy like this.

Thanks guys. @Rukbat So assuming that unlike a pc the wipe function on android makes files unrecoverable. On a pc just the name of the file dissepears but the files for the most part are still there unless you continue installing apps etc and the space/blocks get overwritten.

The deleting of files on the phone works similarly. However, the low-level file system access needed to do an undelete on the internal storage is very restricted and not available to most apps without first rooting the phone, which -- when rooting works -- rooting would need to be done before you needed to do the undelete.

For SD cards, you can do the normal undelete stuff by putting the card in a card reader attached to your PC.
