I have an idea for improving Android, and I have no idea how to send it to Google.

Can anybody help me with this, please?

Thank you. BTW, here is what I would like to send them:

    ******

Android is REALLY difficult to use because the verbiage is pared back to a minimum and this makes it hard to understand things.

For example, see the attached notification screen and imagine you're an Android newbie.

Look at the blue section where it says "show notifications". At this point, you're thinking "What exactly is a notification?" and "Show notifications where? I have no idea WHERE these notifications are to be shown (or not shown)".

Now look immediately below, where it says "app icon badges". At this point, bewildered Android newbies are wondering, what exactly IS an app icon badge? What the hell does this on/off switch actually DO??

Basically, all over the Android system there is a presumption that the user already understands so much more about the rest of the system. But newbies DON'T have this understanding, and it makes it REALLY hard to figure out what the hell is going on.

Here's a good idea... Why don't you put pop up explanatory boxes all over the Android system, so that the user can see everything they need to understand a switch, a group of radio buttons, checkboxes, etc. by just pressing and holding on a question mark?

For example, beside the words "app icon icon badges" you could have a little question mark In a box and the user knows that they can just tap their finger on that question mark and it will explain the what an app icon badge actually is.

I've been using Android for a hell of a long time and I still don't understand a lot of it because of this problem that's all over the OS.

This question is as brilliant as the suggestion you want to send Google.
Have you tried "Google Groups" at https://groups.google.com/forum/m/#!overview
There are a lot of sub-groups there and we can't rule out the presence of the group of sub-group that deals with the Android OS that you want to give feedback on. Try it out.https://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/5e7f7ec8...328_174058.mp4

Or even the send feedback option in the settings app on the phone.

While the suggestion may have some merit, simple Google searches for the terms would reveal tons of information on the topics...

I would take issue that Android is difficult. There is plenty of information all over the internet so I don't see a necessity spoon feed people. Most things can be found on Google. To be perfectly honest, most of the questions asked on this site could be answered by using Google.

That's true, but the problem is that with many questions, it can be difficult to figure out the right search terms, and then locate the ideal answer amid all of the various flotsam and jetsam (what you might call Google Fu). There are plenty of times where I can't find a good answer with a Google search, and then someone else finds it because they searched in a different way.

We are in a thread talking about basic things in Android. IMHO you don't have to be that knowledgeable how to use Google for that purpose. You are correct that most complicated things can depend on how you word the search but this can easily be amended to introduce key search terms.

Like everything, it needs trial and error, whether it's Google, using a device or many other things.
